Our school

Eimeo Road State School currently services approximately 990 students in Prep to Year 6.

Features include:

  • a combination of single and open area classrooms;
  • a modern library; Special Education facilities;
  • tuckshop; and
  • extensive sporting facilities including basketball, netball, tennis, and beach volleyball courts. 

There are two adventure play facilities, two large well-grassed ovals as well as several sun protected activity areas.

This school provides opportunities for all children to reach their academic, cultural and sporting potential by:

  • Providing quality teaching and learning in all key learning areas
  • Providing an accredited Positive Behaviour for Learning Program (PBL) which recognises children's efforts with special awards and provides a consistent approach to discipline
  • Explicitly teaching thinking skills in all grades which encourages our students to think deeply about a wide variety of topics
  • Participating in extension activities like Opti-Minds, academic competitions and computer-based tutorials offered by the School of Distance Education
  • Participating in community activities like: the Mackay Eisteddfod; the Music and Drama Festival; the Mackay Arts Festival; ANZAC Day activities; Whitsunday Voices; and NAIDOC Week celebrations
  • Providing a comprehensive school music program and instrumental program coordinated by the resident music teacher
  • Encouraging school sports at all levels of participation with the assistance of the physical education teacher
  • Catering for social development through school social events, including a Welcome Back Dance and school discos
  • Offering a non-denominational religious instruction program


There is an active P&C Association which meets on the third Tuesday of every month at 6:30 pm to address current issues and to provide financial support for school resources. They also operate a tuckshop from Monday to Friday.

School hours

The school hours for all students are between 8:55 am and 3:00 pm. There is a split lunch to enable better use of the ovals during first and second break.

Prep to Year 1

First bell: 8:35 am

School commences: 8:55 am

First break: 11:00 am - 11:45 am

Second break: 1:15 pm - 1:45 pm

School ends: 3:00 pm

Years 2 to 6

First bell: 8:35 am

School commences: 8:55 am

First break: 11:00 am - 11:30 am

Second break: 1:00 pm - 1:40 pm

School ends: 3.00 pm 

(Teachers may open their classroom doors at 8:35am however if closed, students are supervised in the hall until 8:45am. Lessons formally commence at 8:55am)
