Pump It Up Diabetes Awareness Day

Chelsea Line and Mr and Mrs Line make a special presentation to Mrs Lansbury as part of the Pump It Up Challenge Diabetes awareness day.
Pump It Up Challenge Day for Diabetes
On Friday 5th August, the class of 4LR did a challenge which was called the ‘Pump it up Challenge’ for Type 1 Diabetes.  The class had so much fun.  There were so many people talking about diabetes.
Ok…..let’s get on with the story.
At one point Chelsea Line was popping balloons with fundraising money in them.  She was having so much fun popping the colourful balloons.  Altogether, we raised $192 for the Danii Foundation.
We had thirty-five parents and some special guests join us for the morning.  One of these guests was a lady named Sophie who was from ABC Tropical North.  Sophie interviewed Chelsea’s mum, Mrs Lansbury and a few others.
In the afternoon, we had a very special guest join our class.  Donna Meads, who sadly lost her seventeen year old daughter to Type I diabetes, chatted to us all about life with diabetes and the foundation she has developed called ‘The Danii Foundation’.  We were so happy to meet Mrs Meads, she is a lovely lady and flew from Sydney to be with us.  The money we raised will go to the Danii Foundation and help other children with diabetes to buy their much needed insulin pumps.  We are excited to be wearing our pretend pumps for 48 hours and counting carbs and watching what we eat!!
We finished off our morning with a scrumptious morning tea.  Thank you to all the parents for cooking special treats for us all.  Also, thank you to Mrs Orchard for letting us celebrate this day with our family and friends and to Chelsea’s mum and dad for organising our pumps and challenge bags.  We loved our morning so much and now we know even more about Type 1 Diabetes.
